Information Communication Technology (ICT) introduced to the education system in 1994. Since then the Ministry of Education is in the process of implement ICT to the education system, with a view to enhancing the quality of education. In order to make the effort of such success, there are about 30000 computers serve up in the system by 2007. Those computers and other electronic equipment are being supplied to schools from time to time by the Ministry of Education and various other Projects. The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Branch of the Ministry of Education has made arrangements to implement a programme for the maintenance of this equipment after the expiring of their guarantee period. Therefore the ICT branch has planed to establish a hardware trainers pool in the education system. This Branch has arranged to train the persons selected through a special course prepared by the Universities and through them to train a group of teachers and selected students in the various schools for the maintenance work of the Computers provided for School Information Technology centers. There are about 240 persons selected to train in this process from two (2) teachers for each zone, one person for the Provincial Department of Education, one person from National Colleges of Education and staff of the Ministry are consisted with the trainers pool. 40 Participants will be allocated for one university among them.
